Diabetes Types: The Three Types of Diabetes
Diabetes, for a long time, was assumed to be one disease. Diabetes is now known to take several forms. All diabetes types are fundamentally similar, but differ in many important ways. The two main forms of diabetes are Type 1 and Type 2 (there are other less common types of diabetes). Both type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes are characterised by glucose not being able to enter cells. As a result, they share many symptoms. All types of Diabetes have the same symptoms associated with them - excess sugar in your blood and urine. Pre-Diabetes is where a higher than usual blood-sugar reading is present. Once known as 'Juvenile Diabetes', Type 1 diabetes is where the pancreas loses its ability to create insulin. Type 2 Diabetes – aka NIDDM (Non-Insulin-Dependant Diabetes Mellitus) is the type of diabetes characterised by high blood-glucose caused by insulin resistance and relative insulin deficiency. Type 3 diabetes is differentiated as when the brain stops producing insulin or there is a reduced capacity for brain-cells to accept brain-secreted insulin. Gestational Diabetes –GDM (Gestational Diabetes Mellitus) is when high glucose level develop in pregnancy. Diabetes Insipidus occurs when the function of the pituitary and its secretions are impaired, rather than the pancreas and insulin.

Breakfast Grains –Improve Your Health
Breakfast is the first meal of the day and many people are trying to choose healthier foods. When you first wake up you need to drink water and some fruit juices would be healthy as you wake up dehydrated after a night’s sleep. Some people like to move around and maybe exercise before they eat healthy breakfast foods, but it isn’t healthy to skip breakfast all together.
Using fresh fruit is always a good start as it contains fructose rather than glucose. Frozen Banana Pineapple Cups, trail mix, fruit smoothies and steel cut oats are some great healthy choices to begin your day. Recipes are included in this article...

Soup Recipes –Easy, Delicious, -Good for You
Soup recipes are delicious and a wonderful way to make a good meal year round, even though we think of eating soup more in the cooler weather. The advantage of making soup in the summer is you can make it with fresh vegetables in a larger quantity and freeze bags of soup for those winter days. There is no vegetable in a can that tastes like one that is fresh. The first four soups can be vegetarian.

What Have They Done to our Food?
What Have They Done to our Food?
I am a believer that you will live longer by eating natural food created by God. When we give our bodies what it needs it will thrive and naturally heal itself. I mean, we are what we eat, right? Well if that is true, then we need to be careful of what we eat from our local grocer. Did you know that over 60% of what we eat is genetically modified (also called genetic engineering) food.
I am personally against genetic engineering an wrote an article called What Have They Done to our Food.
What are your thoughts about genetically altered
food.
Also, here are a couple of book reviews that I wrote about The Future of Food and Food Inc.

This is why I want to share Jackie Warner's new book This Is Why You're Fat (And How to Get Thin Forever) with you. She is so down to earth but very clear with exactly what we need to do to lose weight and inches. Plus she helps us understand why it isn't our fault that we are fat, but it is our fault if we stay fat!

Food Inc. - The Movie
This movie is one of the scariest movies I have ever seen. I is a real wake-up call for people who don't really pay attention to what they eat. The reason it is scary is because the there is so much that the public isn't aware of. As I watch this movie it reminds me of another movie called Super-size Me. I wrote about that movie on my "Is Fast Food Killing You Slowly Lens".
The bottom line, is that we need to educate ourselves and be aware of what we are putting in our mouths. Sometimes people just eat to eat without even thinking.
